doleful music of autumn
how it stings my heart
like the refrain of

a familiar song
treasured in spring --

for an instant
my keys are stuck
as wrath and lament
chokes my utterance

prickled in veins
by tingling desires
I’d constrain myself

till the monsoon sinks
below glassy waters—

till the splash and splendor
consorting its departure
wanes –

into the clouds of
ethereal hues

which appear like
gossamer draperies
of vaporizing angels

till the tawny fringe of
apathetic moon
rises indolently
on horizon’s edge

and then
pacing forward
I’d claim --
the ascending road
to the Villa of Death..

pS - have scribbled a poem after a pretty long time -
perhaps I've written this just for the heck of it -
to move on from the previous sordid post ..

I read it twice, thrice..the essence of your words as always sinks in after multiple reads..

it's a beautiful poem aria, and you should write, nomatterwhat. nomatterwhat!

i don't know what more i shud say, my silence would express it better i guess..

aria October 3, 2010 at 12:29 PM

ohh thank you so much :)
I really am glad that perhaps I haven't lost it altogether ..
this poem suddenly came in the afternoon and within two hours I posted it or I would've lost the words once again ..
thank you again for reading ..

Welcome back! Am very happy to see you back here!

Wonderfully well composed, as always! Amidst all of this, I see a promise, of a life that is waiting to be lived well!

God bless!

Trust you, to always look at the 'brighter' perspective! :)
Thank you, Rakesh! I'm happy to be back and also waiting that you too get over the current writer's block!
take care.

(had to rephrase this comment, it had too many 'also'.. sigh)

the squirrel scurrying,
between the departing monsoon clouds-
and rising autumn sun.
filling its silo before
the winter knocks;
cobwebs cleared,
tools sharpened,
lifts her nose -
smell of celebration in the air

... isnt it?

aria October 4, 2010 at 12:19 AM

did you write that?
thanks for that - its beautiful..
yes, certainly its time to celebrate whenever you feel like celebrating it autumn/spring/summer..!!
thank you for reading :D

as always it takes an Aria poem to delight the heart..every read takes you deeper and they are not forgotten as you find yourself reciting certain phrases aloud when in solitude.. honestly, i read every poem multiple times and at least one read is done aloud; maybe that is my way of loving poetry - to read aloud~~

love you for writing all that you write

P.S. you will be enchanted with Horus's (we are rainmates)blog
he is rainlover beyond words

can't post a comment :(

aria October 4, 2010 at 1:51 AM

ohh.. am sorry..
I've started moderating comments, there's a lurker who often leaves abusive words which would offend any decent person..

just started reading Horus, loving his poetry, he also calls you a 'fellow-rain lover'
sadly I missed all Delhi-deluge this year :(

thank you Nidhi, for always encouraging.. :)

not to sound so dark and black, I simply loved the last para - ascending road to the Villa of Death... i won't forget this just as i won't forget the refrain of a a familiar song and many other such metaphors and allusions

actually it is not to do with your moderating comments..something wrong with my identity..i seem to have forgotten bitsof it such as pw :P

aria October 4, 2010 at 6:04 AM

hehe, I also had forgotten my pw for hotmail account, used it only when had to comment on your blog, and you posted rarely. Today I tried to recall it for Horace's blog and whoa.. finally when I did the comments were disabled :(

you can use the Name/Url option and leave a link of your wonderful new blog! waiting for a new post after reading your comment on FB!
