Lets bury present in
malodorous muck -
that steaming bog of
vile licentiousness,
rest tongues in sheath
and use the pen -
to slash and parry.

Once we get started
these things are addictive -
we’ll sit in dark
everything out of focus
squatting in middle
playing with history.

All that vexes -
uneasy wheeling sky,
unsettling flecks of
three quarter moon
cresting the horizon -
resolving temporarily
as we turn scraps of
papers into stories.

My life that’d slid off
somewhere in the past
yours that’d kept
delaying its arrival -
in an empty space
they’d both converge
clinging transiently.

Aah the curse of
co-incidences –
surge the blood-lust
lure me again
on tricky streets,
point me out
and whittle me down
into kindling –

Then read and grieve.

How do you think of such things? :-( Numbing, sparkling imagery. You seem to be on a roll, keep at it.

first of alll... the lable "VENT-ELATION"!!!!!! PERFECT.... probabally your work will make even more sense to me... :)
Unknowlingly my first glance went to the lable of the post rather than the post itself... nd i had a smile on my face as i begun to read this brilliant thought.

now to the post!!!

"All that vexes -

it amazes me how beautifully you have clicked this "photograph" with words... composed it to perfection.
you really paint pictures with ur words.

WOW! WOW! WOW!! "yours that'd kept delaying its arrival." u kno its kinda the movie "confessions of a dangerous mind" but in a more beautiful and dignified manner

All I know is that your every piece is to be read again and again to grasp the whole feeling behind it.. I keep coming back to read them again and again and each time is struck as if for the first time..

The thought behind this poem is beautiful..after Appropos it makes perfect sense.. Keep mesmerizing us while I wish some day you will attain what you quest for!

much cares for you
Nidhi

P.S. Thanks for the lovely comment, it will make me smile for next many days, makes it worthwhile to write :)

Nash.. I've decided to jot down every crap that surfaces on my mind or I get really stuck so yeah I'm on some kind of roll and its great to see you keeping up with me. :D Thanks, really.

Casper.. I need to think of new labels.. crap seems overdone. :D I'm glad you found this label appropriate... mucho gracias for your compliments. It's gratifying to read your wonderful comments.

Nidhi.. I read your words with a beaming smile too. I mostly am tongue-tied or finger-tied when I scribble comments(everywhere) coz of my horrible typos :( thankfully I haven't faltered yet on your lovely page .. thank you kindly for making me feel so special.. :)

Two superb back to back poems ... with imaginative and well used metaphors .... both the poems lead the readers to imagine .. to relish .... to admire ... indeed!

Keep writing Aria .. its a treat

The Hermit of Wandering Thoughts March 20, 2008 at 3:24 PM

Come on baby light my fire (thats another way of saying it I guess)..

I don't know about others.. but I would like to see this phase of your writing to end.. As much as we love reading your beautiful lines.. there is no denying the underlying sadness. I want that to end.. I wish/pray that it ends and we get to see a different side of you. Amen.

Am waiting for a mediocre poem from you which talks about happiness rather than a brilliant poem which dwells on pain.

Alok.. thank you! Been a while since I came up with something back to back sans usual hiatus :D

Impersonator.. I'm doing okay, thank you :) hope you are doing great. Nice to see you again. Glad you liked my scribbles.

Zofo.. Long time! thanks much, had been missing you. :)

IW.. I guess you are right. I promised Vi a story long time back. I'm thinking of 'breaking this mould' with a light-hearted fiction. Lets see how it goes.. have already started writing :D thank you for your words.. really sweet of you :)

I saw the poem...y'know what I mean? Really...visual.

parikrama March 21, 2008 at 2:23 AM

Yeaeeay ! Light hearted fiction sounds yummilicious (am not sure if at my age I am allowed to use that word, but still) Am really glad that you are taking up the challenge in reinventing yourself. I can't wait to see the new Aria :)

this is a simply lovely poignant poem...so evocative...Wish U a Happy Holi. May this Holi brings a lot of joy and happiness in our life & Wish that your life becomes colorful as the colors of Holi..

Aria..words are stupefied, when I want to jot down something about what you have written here. I am under the spell of the magic potion you have brewed and concocted, and I drank. It is creating a nostalgia...".we’ll sit in dark
everything out of focus
squatting in middle
playing with history.

Unleashed fantasy!Incredible creativity! Can't just say what it is. It lifts me like a feather up and up.......Kunjubi

nice one aria. You flow like a dream. An unhealthy one though. You somehow remind me of that serpent that lurkes beneath.

Not your poetry, your thoughts are uninspiring and unhealthy. Your flow of words is like a dream, gripping but fails to remain in memory.

i'm so late once again that all that could have been said has been said. i agree with i/w, on two levels: first is what he is saying, the second is a little harsh (even insensitive, and sorry for that), and i don't think he meant it that way, but that's on the level of monotony. of course catharsis cannot be controlled, and should not be, even. so i've not much to say really, but spread your wings. and you'll fly. you deserve to. waiting for that light hearted fiction for a start :)

take care,
asuph

...ditto and amen to that. You have such a wonderful way with your words Aria. Alas, I am drawn in by default.
